Actor Ned Beatty (“Delivrance”, “Toy Story 3”) has died at 83

Nominated for the Oscars and known for his roles in “Delivrance” or the “Superman” saga, the actor left his mark on American cinema.

American cinema mourns one of its proudest representatives. Prolific actor nominated for the Oscars and appeared in the Superman saga , Toy Story 3 or even Network , Ned Beatty died at the age of 83 , Sunday, June 13.

“Ned died of natural causes Sunday morning surrounded by his family and loved ones, ” Deborah Miller, agent at Shelter Entertainment Group, announced in an email. “Ned was a legendary and iconic talent, as well as a dear friend, he will be missed by all of us,” she added.

A native of Kentucky, Ned Beatty made his screen debut in 1972 in John Boorman’s Deliverance , marking the start of a long career that continued until 2013. He also starred in Superman , Les Hommes du President , and the television series Homicide: Life on the Street .

Ned Beatty was “one of the greats”

Ned Beatty is also known for having lent his voice to the Machiavellian bear Lotso in the cartoon  Toy Story 3  from Pixar studios, nominated for the Oscar in the category of best films. It has been “an incredible joy and honor to work with” Ned Beatty , tweeted director Lee Unkrich. “Thank you Ned for bringing Lotso to life, in its good and bad ways. We will miss you,” he added.
